Update on Brad's dad

As some of you know that Brad's dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in July 2007. He wasn't given very much of a timetable other than they needed to start treatment immediately. He underwent a year of an experimental chemo. In August 2008 he had scans done that showed "No Evidence of Disease" which was a complete miracle given that it was stage 4 when he started out. In October he had additional scans done and found out that the cancer had returned, but that are unsure of the degree and where.

Please pray today for Brad's dad. He will be going to MD Anderson to have scans done at 2 pm to see where the cancer has come back. He has his follow up visit with his doctor on Wednesday to find out the results. Please pray for wisdom of the doctors to know what course of action to take and the timetable at hand. Pray for Kelly, Pauletta, and the boys as they get the results as to what course of action to take next. Also, please pray for Deborah (Stephen's wife) and I to be the encouragers in this adventure in our lives.

We serve an awesome and healing God. He has already performed one miracle in Kelly's life. I pray that He will allow for us to continue to see that miracle taking place throughout the coming months.

Thank you in advance for your prayers. We have definitely seen the power of prayer throughout this whole season of our lives.

Fall Festival 2008

Madison had a wonderful time at the Fall Festival at our church. She got to play some games or watch Daddy show her how to play the games. She also got to do some trick or treating down the trick or treat hall. She went up to everyone and after they had given her the candy she would say "thank you". It was the cutest thing! I wish that I brought my camera, but we forgot our camera at home. Here are some pictures that our wonderful friend Kasie took for us.

Stephen & Deb's wedding

We just recently made an adventure to North Carolina to see Brad's brother Stephen get married to his beautiful bride, Deborah. She was beautiful and the whole ceremony was wonderful.

Madison was actually in the wedding (aka the flower girl). I carried her down the aisle and she was very good through the entire ceremony. I was so impressed with her. She was such a trooper.

Pumkin' Patch

We went to a pumpkin patch for our some of really good friends daughter's birthday. Madison had so much fun and really enjoyed getting to pick flowers. Hopefully, it will be a tradition that we will start with Madison and Baby #2.

She really enjoyed her popsicle, but immediately after she was done. We went and got a bath. What a fun Friday night hanging out as a family in the backyard.

13 weeks sonogram

Here are our little miracle at 13 weeks. It was so amazing to see our little miracle yesterday. We are so overjoyed at the precious gift that God has given to us.

Well, we are....

pregnant. Baby Reeves #2 is due in March 2009. We are so excited and can't wait to meet our second child. We will not find out again what the sex of the baby is until I have the baby. We did it with Madison and it was so rewarding. I had my second doctor's appointment today and got to see the baby. It was so reassuring and rewarding all at the same time. God has truly blessed us with this pregnancy.

Father-in-law Update...

For those of you who have been keeping up with my father-in-law and his battle with cancer. Here is the latest email that he sent out last week after his scans.

Dear Friends,

Pauletta and I met with the doctor this afternoon at MD Anderson to discuss the blood test and CT Scans I had yesterday.

The results were very encouraging. The doctor reported that I have reached a point in the treatment that the disease was no longer radiologically evident. I have reached a point of being NED. (No Evidence of Disease)

This means I have graduated from clinical trial school. This is a very good school from which to have received one's diploma. By the way my grades were a lot better in this school than they were in high school or college. I have undergone ten rounds of chemo therapy, almost a year's worth. That is four rounds more than anyone else in this clinical trial. My body has been able to take on an unusually high amount of these drugs and still bounce back. There have been some set backs along the way but, I am very happy to be where I am today.

The plan now is to discontinue chemo but continue to monitor my condition with scans every eight weeks.

Today I am very, very grateful to all of you for your support and prayers. The outpouring of support from the very beginning has been overwhelming. I feel like you have been with me since I started this journey last July. I want to thank all you for your support of Pauletta, my boys, and me.

Please don't take me off your prayer list as this type of cancer does have a fairly high incidence of recurrence, but for today the prayers can also be prayers of thankfulness.

Fourth of July Family Tradition

We celebrated Fourth of July at the Reeves home. It has been a standing event for 28 years now. Pop Reeves smokes brisket, ribs, sausage, and chicken for a HUGE BBQ feast. The whole cul-de-sac is involved. The neighbors all get together and hang out all day. The big event is at night with a HUGE firework display. This year was even more of a treat because Brad's dad was diagnosed with cancer almost a year ago and he is still fighting and with us. We love this family tradition of eating some amazing BBQ and hanging out with family and friends. Madison had a lot that of fun with all of the attention.
